Twenty six WOW WI members visited the gardens at Highgrove House on Saturday 24th August. Following security checks we were shown round by a very knowledgeable and helpful guide who described the creation of the gardens and the ideas behind them. Designed personally by HRH Prince Charles these gardens have several different areas including a stumpery, a walled garden, rose garden, wild flower meadow, summer house, tree house (where Prince George may well play in future) and a Moroccan inspired carpet garden. The gardens are peaceful and full of creativity and imagination. After a tour of the beautiful grounds and gardens we all enjoyed tea and scones or cake in the restaurant and probably most of us spent far too much in the Highgrove shop. Full of covetable goodies and plants! A memorable day out.
